When working on a flat roof, it is very important to know that your roofer must remove the existing roof up to the decking to ensure waterproofing and the long lifespan of the re-roofing. On the asphalt and gravel roofing shown on this photograph, we can clearly see that there are two roof layers. It is not uncommon for a roof to consist of two layers or more, especially in old buildings.
